THE IRON MAIDENS Lemmy Forever - A Tribute to Motorhead Lion Arts Factory, Adelaide, SA MAY 5, 2023
Being such a huge Iron Maiden and Motorhead fan this was one gig I wasn’t going to miss even if they were more tribute to the bands. Lemmy Forever - A Tribute to Motörhead kicked off the night and dusted off old Motorhead songs rocking through classics as I remembered that iconic show of theirs back in 1984. These guys definitely paid tribute and did one hell of a fine job doing so, I raise my glass to you guys.
There are probably alot of things that could be said about an all female Iron Maiden Tribute Band but the one thing that will always be said after seeing them live - They Bloody Rocked The Joint. Jumping straight into 2 Minutes to Midnight they forged the Iron Maiden path with tracks like Die With Your Boots On, Wasted Years, The Trooper, Fear of the Dark, Number of the Beast and finishing with Aces High. We weren’t ready to go home yet and wanted more and got it with encore song Run to The Hills. After which Monty Python’s Always Look On The Bright Side of Life backing tape was played and we gathered ourselves and realised it was all over.
Vocalist Kirsten Rosenberg played her Bruce Dickinson part so well and stalked the audience with her theatrics and vocals, sometimes changing outfits to suit the songs from jackets to hats to flags with us shaking her fists in the air as she did. There was no Courtney Cox tonight as I was told she was working with the band Burning Witches so Jimena Fosado stepped up and did one fine job. Guitarist Nikki Stringfield shredded her way through the set and was a total Goddess while bassist Wanda Ortiz tore through the songs like there was no tomorrow, I’m sure Steve Harris would be proud of how worked her magic. Of course joining the band onstage was Eddie, I mean it would be sacrilegious if Eddie didn’t make an appearance.
For me Fear of The Dark stole the show, the crowd chanted the band roared and it was if we were all one pack. But then Number of The Beast cranked it up even further and I just closed my eyes and headbanged while raising my fist in the air. I can still hear Rosenberg’s incredible voice in my head mixed with Dickinson’s and what a combination it was. Every note, every guitar lick, every drum beat the Iron Maidens played ripped through us and we gave it back the same way. Though I’m still impatiently waiting for Iron Maiden’s return to Australia I have to say The Iron Maidens was well worth it and put on an incredible show that will be remembered for a long time.
