KORN/Loathe ADELAIDE ENTertainment CENTRE 4/12/2024

When Korn announced a show in Adelaide everyone I knew was excited, let alone the fact it had been over 10 years since their last show and the only headlining show other than festivals later this year, and people were flying interstate to get to see them up close and personal. The tickets sold out within days, and people lined up for hours in the sun based off of excitement alone.

Heading into the arena before the show and it filled up quickly, people were ready and squeezing up to the barricade before the opener even came on. Loathe was a band I had heard nothing of until the day of the performance and they immediately had the crowd roaring. Heavy metal riffs and crowd interaction that was infectious and had everyone bouncing along. With an hour to warm the crowd up everyone in the pit was having a good time and the energy never dropped once. Nobody in GA moved a step during the intermission eagerly anticipating the main event.

Korn jumped onto the stage with the quickest transition by stage techs I have ever seen, when korn weren't playing the crowd was screaming and at certain points during songs the crowd was louder.
With some heavy Bass lines and a few solos from Bassist Reginald Arvizu, it was a sound you could feel deep in your stomach. Slamming through the set and it was clear that Korn was having as much fun as the crowd when all of a sudden Korn front man Jonathan Davis, reappears with bagpipes and slows down for the intro of Shoots and Ladders, it was a sound I had been dreaming of hearing for years. With a cheeky little snippet of Metallica's One during the bridge they still had the entire GA moshing along. Stopping for a second to make sure the crowd understood what to do they then performed Y'all Want a Single and then taking a five minute break before the encore, I am sure you could hear the crowd blocks away.
Screaming into Falling Away From Me, Oildale and then finishing with the classic Freak on a Leash for the encore, I'm sure the band had almost an amazing time as the crowd. Handing out guitar picks and drumsticks Drummer Ray Luzier, giving security a drumstick to give to a kid who had been sitting on his dad's shoulders all night. Everyone left with a massive smile on their face and I'm sure ears ringing aswell.
