HAMMERFALL/SILENT KNIGHT LION ARTS FACTORY 15/1/2025
It was like a stadium show but in intimate surroundings is the best way to explain Hammerfall’s gig in Adelaide. They are the Sons of the Northern Lights come to battle in the land of Oz, making everyone swear allegiance to them as they conqure the land
Ascending to the stage Hammerfall ripped into Avenge The Fallen immediately finding the chosen few that would join their crew. Even though it was a small stage for them, the drum riser was also used as a platform for members to raise their Swedish flag with guitars and vocals. The band continued to play their favourites as well as songs from their current album. Vocalist ………voice was strong and sometime hypnotic: guitarist Oscar had his traditional hammer guitar which he thrust into the air like a battle axe. Throughout the show there was a lot of theatrics going on and they timed their headbanging and guitar raising in time. At one point I thought I was at a Judas Priest concert with the way the guitarist timed their riffs and moves adding in with the thundering drums, this was European Metal at its best and bloody timeless. You could definitely tell the band was really enjoying the show themselves and joked to each other while vocalist joked to crowd
By the time they got to the song Hammer High, with the crowd had warmed up so much that they were on the edge to their own transformation into avenging all Hammerfall’s enemy and they band led the way by getting all to find their own little hammer in the fist and raise it to the roof. Hammerfall continued with songs like Last Man Standing, Chapter V: The instrumental melody, Let the Hammer Fall (with more fists in the air). They finished the night with Hearts on Fire with vocalist…heading to the pit to stand on the fence and song direct to crowd. All Hail to Hammerfall !!!!!!
