CANDICE MORNINGSTAR
INTERVIEW
Tell us about yourself for those that don’t know you?
Hi! Thanks so much for having me. I’m Candice Morningstar, a Playboy Bunny, internationally published model and showgirl. I live and work in Australia and tour internationally. I love spending time with my dog, going to the gym and travelling the world.
When did you get your first tattoo, please describe it and have you added anything to it?
My first tattoo is a small geometric shape on the back of my neck. Absolutely tiny and I overthought it so much, I think I was 16. It’s still there. I plan on covering it up eventually when I get a big backpiece but because I can’t see it I forget it’s there!
Which is your favourite tattoo that you have had done, please describe it and what sort of meaning it has for you?
My right arm is a neo-japanese sleeve with a large snake and ponies, it has underlying geometric detail which makes it intricate without having too much colour. Snakes are traditionally associated with power and I did a back to back three day sit to get that all done. It was really important to me at that time in my life to push through it and finish the tattoo. I also have a tattoo for the band Steel Panther which is a sushi roll that looks like a pussy with “smells like” underneath and is an ode one of their songs from about 15yrs ago. I used to be such a diehard fan.
What is the most painful tattoo you have had done, please describe the tattoo and its meaning. How many sessions did it take to complete?
I have a phoenix on my side and it extends up to my ribs. I think that’s probably the most pain I’ve been in. It’s a Japanese style black and white phoenix. It remains unfinished at this point in time. Typically rising from the ashes, I feel the symbolism at that time was important to me. The fact it remains unfinished is also part of that symbolism.
Your next tattoo, what have you decided on and where on your body is it going plus what type of meaning does it have for you?
I have a few on the cards coming up including a back piece. I’m still not 100% sure on the idea but I’ve collected tattoos from some great names like Karlos Lloyd and Brodie the Lesuire Bandit and Jake Straats so my hunt will be from someone I can add work to my tattoo collection.
