Parkway Drive/ I prevail Ent Centre Adelaide 27/9/2024
Before the show even started you could feel the tension and excitement in the air, a sign of the pyrotechnics to come a giant Parkway Drive emblem hanging over the crowd. Void of Vision came out and the crowd was immediately warmed up and ready to throw down, within minutes the crowd had multiple pits and you could tell the band enjoyed the crowd as much as the crowd enjoyed them.
The Ghost Inside came out screaming with "engine 45" and immediately had the crowd roaring along and chanting fuck this during "pressure point", while they had a short set they had energy and passion that had everyone jumping and the biggest mosh I've been in.
Halfway through the night and it was electric, wall to wall and everyone was having a great time. I Prevail came on and somehow the crowd only screamed louder and louder, stomping onto the stage with "bow down" and "self-destruction" and then slowing it down slightly in their own style with "Hurricane". They all had one job to warm the crowd up and by the time they were done it was an inferno.
Nobody moved in the intermission for Parkway Drive and then, boom. Before you realise it there's a glaring red light and Parkway Drive walk in through the same GA doors that the crowd did waving a giant flag, draped in matching outfits apart from Wilson McCall in a flowing white outfit. As they make their way up onto the stage the crowd is still getting louder to the point that Wilson has to quiet them down so he can start. The crowd was ready and Parkway Drive did not disappoint. Smashing onto the stage with "glitch" and they weren't done yet. After their opening song they dropped the curtain to reveal massive steel beam girders as set dressing. Suddenly guitarist Jeff Ling was suspended on a bridge above the crowd as pyrotechnics roared down, his guitar solos cutting through all the chaos. And then Wilson was back infront of the crowd drenched in rain singing into a microphone stand made of metallic rose thorns. The giant Parkway Drive emblem was lowered down infront of the crowd to show off the all the flawless flame effects they had planned, even bringing out the vocalist for "I killed the prom queen" for "Boneyard." As we came to the encore the crowd was reeling with excitement as soon as drummer Ben Gordon was strapped into his drum set, immediately bringing to mind the legendary drum performances of mötley crüe, he was spinning from one side to the other as massive pyres of flames scorched into the crowd. Parkway Drive definitely had as much fun as the crowd was already having as the smile across Wilsons face was felt the entire night by everyone in the room. Lastly they finished off the set with "crushed" and "wild eyes," Wilson and the band promising to be back sooner, and I for one, can't wait.
